This page provides a summary of the End User License Agreement (EULA) for Erik's ToolBox for Business Central. This summary is intended to help you understand the key terms and conditions that govern your use of the software. Overview

Erik's ToolBox is a commercial software product published by hougaard.com. By installing, activating, or using ToolBox, you agree to be bound by the terms of the End User License Agreement. The EULA defines the rights and obligations of both you (the licensee) and hougaard.com (the publisher).

License Types

Production License

A production license grants you the right to use Erik's ToolBox in a production Business Central environment. Production licenses are required for any environment where you are running live business operations.

  • Production licenses require a valid license key.
  • The license key must be registered and activated on the Register ToolBox page.
  • License validation is performed against check.hougaardlicense.com.

Sandbox Usage

Sandbox (non-production) Business Central environments can use Erik's ToolBox without a license key. This allows you to:

  • Evaluate the product before purchasing a license.
  • Develop and test ToolBox programs before deploying them to production.
  • Train users on ToolBox features without requiring a production license.

Sandbox usage is provided as a courtesy to help you assess the product. It does not constitute a commitment to provide indefinite free access and may be subject to change in future versions.

Licensed Product Codes

The following product codes are associated with Erik's ToolBox licensing:

These product codes are used during the license validation process to identify which components are included in your license. Your license key is validated against these product codes when you register ToolBox.

Per-Environment Licensing

Erik's ToolBox is licensed on a per-environment basis. This means:

  • Each production Business Central environment requires its own license key.
  • A license key activated in one environment cannot be used in a different production environment.
  • If you operate multiple production environments, you need a separate license for each one.
  • Sandbox environments are exempt from this requirement and can be used without a license.

When planning your ToolBox deployment across multiple environments, factor in the per-environment licensing model to ensure compliance.

License Validation and Renewal

Activation Process

To activate your ToolBox license:

  1. Obtain a license key from hougaard.com.
  2. Open the Register ToolBox page in your production Business Central environment.
  3. Enter your license key in the designated field.
  4. Complete the activation process. ToolBox will validate your key against check.hougaardlicense.com.
  5. Upon successful validation, the license status will show as active.

Validation

ToolBox periodically validates your license to ensure it remains active. The validation process communicates with check.hougaardlicense.com and verifies:

  • The license key is valid and has not been revoked.
  • The license has not expired.
  • The license is associated with the correct product codes.

A stable network connection to the license server is required for validation to succeed.

Renewal

License keys may have an expiration date. When your license approaches expiration or has expired:

  1. You will receive a notification within ToolBox indicating the license status.
  2. Visit hougaard.com to renew your license.
  3. After obtaining a renewed license key, update the registration in your Business Central environment.
  4. The new key will be validated against the license server.

It is recommended that you renew your license before it expires to avoid any interruption in service.

Grant of License

Subject to the terms of the EULA and the payment of applicable license fees, hougaard.com grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

  • Install and use Erik's ToolBox in the licensed Business Central environment.
  • Use the features included in your licensed product codes.
  • Create, store, and execute AL programs within ToolBox.
  • Use the documentation provided with the software.

This license is granted for your internal business use only.

Restrictions

The following activities are prohibited under the EULA:

Reverse Engineering

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of Erik's ToolBox. This restriction applies to the ToolBox extension, the Compiler extension, and all associated components.

Redistribution

You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer Erik's ToolBox or any of its components to third parties. Each licensee must obtain their own license directly from hougaard.com.

Modification

You may not modify, alter, adapt, or create derivative works based on Erik's ToolBox or any of its components. This includes modifying the extension packages, altering the compiled code, or tampering with the license validation mechanism.

Circumvention

You may not circumvent, disable, or interfere with any license validation, copy protection, or access control mechanisms included in the software.

Unauthorized Use

You may not use Erik's ToolBox in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations, or in any manner not expressly authorized by the EULA.

Publisher Rights and Obligations

Publisher Rights

hougaard.com retains all intellectual property rights in Erik's ToolBox, including but not limited to:

  • Copyright in the software code and documentation.
  • Trademarks associated with the product name and branding.
  • Patents, if any, related to the software's functionality.
  • Trade secrets embodied in the software's design and implementation.

The license granted to you does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property.

Publisher Obligations

hougaard.com will:

  • Provide license key delivery upon purchase.
  • Maintain the license validation service at check.hougaardlicense.com to support license activation and renewal.
  • Make reasonable efforts to provide support and updates as described in the product documentation.
  • Handle your license key and validation data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

User Rights and Obligations

Your Rights

As a licensed user, you have the right to:

  • Use Erik's ToolBox in the licensed environment for your internal business purposes.
  • Receive support and updates as provided by the publisher.
  • Use sandbox environments without a license key for evaluation and testing.
  • Access the documentation and self-help resources provided with the product.

Your Obligations

As a licensee, you agree to:

  • Comply with all terms and conditions of the EULA.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your license key and not share it with unauthorized parties.
  • Ensure that your use of ToolBox complies with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Not exceed the scope of the license (e.g., using a single license key in multiple production environments).
  • Promptly update your license when it expires or is renewed.
  • Ensure that users of ToolBox in your organization are aware of and comply with the applicable terms.

Termination

Termination by the Publisher

hougaard.com may terminate your license if:

  • You breach any material term of the EULA.
  • You fail to pay applicable license fees.
  • You engage in any prohibited activity described in the Restrictions section.
  • You circumvent or attempt to circumvent the license validation mechanism.

Upon termination, you must cease all use of Erik's ToolBox and remove the extension from your Business Central environment.

Termination by You

You may terminate your license at any time by:

  • Uninstalling Erik's ToolBox from your Business Central environment.
  • Ceasing all use of the software.

Termination by you does not entitle you to a refund of license fees already paid, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination of the license, regardless of the reason:

  • Your right to use Erik's ToolBox ceases immediately.
  • You must uninstall the software from all environments.
  • The restrictions on reverse engineering, redistribution, and modification survive termination.
  • Any data you created using ToolBox (programs, audit trail entries, etc.) remains in your Business Central database and is your responsibility to manage.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Erik's ToolBox is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, hougaard.com disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability.
  • Fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Non-infringement.
  • Accuracy or reliability of results.

hougaard.com does not warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. You assume all risk associated with the use of the software.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, hougaard.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Erik's ToolBox, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data.
  • Loss of profits or revenue.
  • Business interruption.
  • Cost of substitute goods or services.

In no event shall the total liability of hougaard.com exceed the amount of license fees paid by you for the affected license period.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which liability is sought, whether in contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise.

Third-Party Services

Your use of certain ToolBox features may involve third-party services, including:

  • AI Providers: Azure Open AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, LM Studio, Google Gemini, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Alibaba Cloud, Zhipu AI, MiniMax (for the AI agents)
  • GitHub: (for Data in GitHub)
  • Remote Business Central Environments: (for Remote Packages)

Your use of these third-party services is subject to the respective terms of service and privacy policies of those providers. hougaard.com is not responsible for the availability, performance, or data handling practices of third-party services.

Governing Law

The EULA is governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction of the publisher. Any disputes arising from or related to the EULA shall be resolved in accordance with those laws.
