What Gets Printed

File Output

When you "print" to SharePoint:

Element Value
Format Follows the document type the platform produces for the print job (normally PDF)
Location Configured Print folder
Name Report name + timestamp
Size Based on paper size setting

File Naming

Files are named automatically:

{ReportName} {Timestamp}.pdf

Example: Statement 2026-01-15T14.30.45.pdf. The report name is separated from the timestamp by a space, not an underscore, and the timestamp is the ISO 8601 representation from format(CurrentDateTime, 0, 9) with colons replaced by periods. The file extension follows the document type of the print job (normally pdf).

Finding Your Prints

Location

Prints go to a user-specific subfolder of the configured print folder:

{Base Folder}/{Print to SharePoint Folder}/{UserID}/Statement 2026-01-15T14.30.45.pdf

With the default "Print to SharePoint Folder" value (Print), this resolves to e.g. /BC Documents/Print/JOHN/Statement 2026-01-15T14.30.45.pdf.

Accessing Prints

To find your printed documents:

  1. Open SharePoint directly
  2. Navigate to the print folder configured on SharePoint Setup (default: Print)
  3. Find your user subfolder
  4. Locate your files

Alternative Access

From Business Central:

  • No direct FactBox access to print folder
  • Must use SharePoint directly
  • Or create a mapping to the print folder

Printing Different Document Types

Reports

Any BC report can print to SharePoint:

Report Type Works
Sales Invoice Yes
Customer Statement Yes
Inventory Report Yes
Custom Reports Yes

Lists and Pages

Only report objects are captured by the SharePoint printer. Printing list pages or other page output is not handled -- to save list data to SharePoint, run a report over the list's table and print that report to SharePoint.
