Role Center and Interactive Agent: Overview
Simple Agent Designer includes a dedicated Role Center that serves as the central hub for managing your AI agents, workloads, and work tracking. This page provides an overview of the Role Center layout and navigation.
The Agent Based Accounting Role Center
Simple Agent Designer installs a custom Role Center called Agent Based Accounting. This profile provides a tailored workspace for users who work with AI agents.
Setting the Role Center
To use the Agent Based Accounting role center:
- Click the Settings icon (gear) in the Business Central navigation bar
- Choose My Settings
- Set Role to Agent Based Accounting
- Click OK
- The page refreshes with the new Role Center
Alternatively, you can access all Simple Agent Designer pages through the Tell Me search bar without changing your role center.
Role Center Layout
The Role Center page is divided into two main areas:
Work Area (Left/Top)
The Agent Work part shows a summary of recent work performed by AI agents. This gives you a quick overview of what your agents have been doing, including reports generated, journal entries created, and other actions.
Agent Chat (Right/Bottom)
The Interactive Agent part provides a chat interface where you can converse directly with your default AI agent. This is a quick way to ask questions, request data lookups, or trigger actions without creating a formal workload.
Chat history is auto-saved after each completed reply, so the part also offers a Resume Conversation action (reload a past conversation from the AI Conversations list) and a New Conversation action (start fresh while keeping the prior conversation saved). See Interactive Agent.
Navigation Structure
The Role Center action bar is organized into these sections:

Ad Hoc Agent
In addition to the Role Center chat, Simple Agent Designer provides a dedicated Ad Hoc Agent page — a full-screen interactive chat with its own navigation. The Ad Hoc Agent includes the same chat capabilities as the Role Center but gives you a focused workspace with direct access to workloads, tools, skills, and setup from the action bar.
To learn more, see Ad Hoc Agent.
Quick Access from Any Role Center
If you prefer to keep your current Role Center, you can reach most Simple Agent Designer features through the Tell Me search bar:

Note that the Skills and Connect Mobile App pages are not searchable in Tell Me (their UsageCategory is None). Open them from the Role Center actions and the "Simple Agent Designer" menu instead — Skills from the Agent Designer section, and Connect Mobile App from the menu's Configure Mobile App action (see Mobile App Connection).
The Standard Page Extensions
Even when not using the Agent Based Accounting role center, Simple Agent Designer adds features to standard Business Central pages:
Journal Pages
The following journal pages gain an AI Accountant factbox that shows workload information for the current document:
- General Journal — factbox appears in the FactBox pane
- Payment Journal — factbox appears in the FactBox pane
- Cash Receipt Journal — factbox appears in the FactBox pane
The factbox displays the workload title, processing status, and a drill-down link to the full workload card.
Customer Card
A Bank Statement Name field is added to the Payments section of the Customer Card. This field allows you to specify an alternative name by which the customer is known on bank transfers, useful for automated bank statement matching.
