System Requirements
Before installing Simple Agent Designer, ensure your environment meets the following requirements.
Business Central Platform

Simple Agent Designer is built for Business Central 2025 Wave 1 (version 26) and later. Earlier versions of Business Central are not supported.
Supported Countries
Simple Agent Designer is currently available for the following country/region localizations:
- United States (US)
- Canada (CA)
If your Business Central environment is configured for a different country/region, the extension may not be available in your AppSource marketplace. Contact support for information about additional country availability.
Required Dependencies
Simple Agent Designer depends on the following extension:

This dependency is automatically resolved during installation. If you are installing manually, ensure the AL Compiler and Interpreter extension is installed first.
AI Provider Requirements
To use Simple Agent Designer, you need at least one AI provider account. The extension supports twelve providers. You only need an account with the provider(s) your agents will use — you do not need all of them.
Cloud AI Providers
Each cloud provider requires an account, a valid API key, and sufficient API credits or an active billing plan. Get the API key from the portal listed below (clicking the Access Key field in Agent Setup opens it automatically):

Azure OpenAI
- An Azure subscription with Azure OpenAI Service deployed
- A deployed model (e.g., GPT-4) in your Azure AI Foundry project
- The deployment endpoint URL and API key
- Internet access from your Business Central server to your Azure endpoint
- Must be added manually (it is not pre-seeded on first setup)
LM Studio (Local Models)
- LM Studio installed on an accessible machine
- A downloaded and loaded model
- Network access from your Business Central server to the LM Studio endpoint
- No internet access required (runs entirely on your local network)
- An access key is optional (only needed if you configure one in LM Studio)
Network Requirements
Simple Agent Designer communicates with cloud AI providers via HTTPS. Ensure outbound connections to the hosts of the provider(s) you use are permitted from your Business Central server (all on port 443 / HTTPS):

In addition, the extension validates its license against the Hougaard license server, so also allow outbound HTTPS to:

If your environment uses a firewall or proxy server, ensure the relevant hosts above are whitelisted.
User Permissions
Users who will work with Simple Agent Designer need:
- The AI Accountant Hgd permission set assigned to their user account
- Standard Business Central permissions for any tables they want agents to access (e.g., General Ledger, Sales, Purchasing)

Browser Requirements
Simple Agent Designer uses standard Business Central web client pages plus a custom JavaScript-based chat control for the interactive agent. Any browser supported by Business Central will work:
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Safari (macOS)
Hardware Recommendations
Simple Agent Designer does not impose significant additional hardware requirements beyond what Business Central already needs. However, consider the following:
- AI processing occurs on the AI provider's servers, not on your Business Central server
- Excel and data splitting can be memory-intensive for very large files — ensure your Business Central server has adequate RAM for your expected workload sizes
- Background processing uses Business Central sessions — plan your session limits accordingly if processing many workloads concurrently
