Mapping Issues

This page covers problems related to category, dimension, and credit-card mapping, and how to fix them.

Category Mapping Issues

Expenses post to the fallback account

If a category has no G/L account mapped, or its mapped G/L code does not exist in Business Central, the line posts to the Fallback G/L Account. To fix:

  1. Open Expense Categories from the Setup card.
  2. Set the correct G/L Account for the category.
  3. Regenerate the report's journal.

See Expense Category to G/L Mapping.

New categories aren't showing

The category list is downloaded from Certify and shows only active categories. Re-run the Expense Categories action to refresh after adding categories in Certify.

Mapping change didn't appear in Certify

Changing a category's G/L account writes the code back to Certify. If it doesn't appear in Certify, confirm the connection works (the write-back uses the same API credentials) and check for connection errors. See Common Issues.

Dimension Mapping Issues

A dimension is missing on posted lines

The app only applies a dimension value that actually exists in Business Central. If a value is missing, the dimension is skipped (the line still posts). The fix is usually to run Harvest Dimensions from Expense Reports, which creates the dimensions and values and builds the mapping. See Dimension Mapping.

Department isn't being coded

Set the Department Dimension field on the Setup card to the Business Central dimension the Certify department should map to. Without it, the department is not translated.

Wrong dimension value applied

When no exact value mapping exists, the app applies the Certify code directly as the dimension value. If that isn't what you want, add an explicit mapping row in Dimension Mapping pairing the Certify label and value with the correct Business Central dimension value.

"Dimension value blocked" or mandatory-dimension errors at posting

These come from Business Central's own dimension rules. Unblock the value, or add a mapping to a permitted value, or adjust your mandatory-dimension setup, then regenerate or correct the journal lines.

Credit Card Mapping Issues

Company-paid charges balanced to the wrong account

If a card isn't in the Credit Cards list, its charges fall back to the setup Expense Balance Account rather than the card's account. Add the card (matching the Card Name and Last Digits exactly as Certify reports them) and set its balancing account. See Credit Card Mapping.

Employee reimbursed for company-paid charges

This happens only if a company-paid charge is being treated as reimbursable. Confirm the card is mapped and that the line's reimbursable amount in Certify is correct. The app posts company-paid expense lines to the card account and does not create a reimbursement line for them.
