Installation

This guide walks you through installing Advanced Cloud Security +Compliance in your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment.

Installation from AppSource

The recommended way to install Advanced Cloud Security is through Microsoft AppSource.

Prerequisites

Before installing, ensure you have:

  • Administrator access to your Business Central tenant
  • Business Central version 23.0 or later
  • An active Business Central subscription

Installation Steps

  1. Open the Extension Management page in Business Central
    • Search for "Extension Management" in the Tell Me search box
    • Or navigate to Settings → Extensions → Extension Management
  2. Select Marketplace from the action bar
  3. Search for "Advanced Cloud Security" in the AppSource marketplace
  4. Click on the app and select Free trial or Get it now
  5. Accept the terms and conditions
  6. Select the environment(s) where you want to install the app
  7. Click Install
  8. Wait for the installation to complete
    • Installation typically takes 2-5 minutes
    • You can monitor progress in Extension Management

Post-Installation

After installation completes:

  1. Refresh your browser (press F5 or Ctrl+R)
  2. Search for "Advanced Cloud Security" in the Tell Me box
  3. The main setup page should open

First-Time Setup Wizard

When you first open Advanced Cloud Security, the setup wizard guides you through initial configuration:

Step 1: Symbol Refresh

The first time you run ACS, you'll be prompted to refresh symbols:

  1. Click OK when prompted about initial setup
  2. The AL Symbols List page opens
  3. Click Refresh Symbols to download the latest Business Central symbols
  4. Wait for the refresh to complete (this may take several minutes)

Step 2: Basic Configuration

The setup page allows you to configure:

Setting Description
Base Company The company where security features are defined
Compliance Settings Email and notification settings for compliance

Sandbox Installation

For testing purposes, you can install ACS in a sandbox environment:

  1. Create or open a sandbox environment
  2. Follow the same installation steps as above
  3. In sandbox mode, all features work without a license (trial mode)

Benefits of Sandbox Testing

  • Full functionality available
  • No license required
  • Isolated from production data
  • Ideal for proof-of-concept testing

Updating the Extension

When updates are available:

  1. Go to Extension Management
  2. Find Advanced Cloud Security in the list
  3. If an update is available, you'll see an update indicator
  4. Click Update and follow the prompts

Update Considerations

  • Updates may require regenerating the security extension
  • Test updates in sandbox before applying to production
  • Review release notes for breaking changes

Uninstalling

To remove Advanced Cloud Security:

  1. Go to Extension Management
  2. Find Advanced Cloud Security
  3. Select Uninstall
  4. Confirm the uninstallation

Warning: Uninstalling will remove all security configurations and compliance history.

Before Uninstalling

  • Export any compliance logs you need to retain
  • Document your security feature configurations
  • Inform users that security restrictions will be removed

Troubleshooting Installation

Common Installation Issues

Issue Solution
Installation fails Check that you have admin permissions
Extension not visible Refresh your browser and clear cache
Symbols won't refresh Ensure you have internet connectivity
Dependency errors The AL Compiler extension should install automatically
