Bulk Actions
Add All Fields
To create Field Action records for all fields:
- Open Field Actions for your table
- Click Add All in the action bar
- All fields are added with "Default" action
- Modify specific fields as needed
Exclude All Fields
To exclude all fields by default:
- Open Field Actions for your table
- Click Exclude All in the action bar
- All fields are set to "Exclude"
- Change specific fields to "Default" to include them
Configuring Common Actions
Excluding a Field
- Create a Field Action for the field
- Set Field Action to "Exclude"
- No additional configuration needed
Example - Exclude Credit Card Number:
Table No.: 18 (Customer)
Field No.: 23 (Credit Card No.)
Field Action: Exclude
Unfolding Related Data
- Create a Field Action for the foreign key field
- Set Field Action to "Unfold"
- Set Related Table to the table to expand
- Optionally set Global Filter to limit records
Example - Unfold Customer on Sales Header:
Table No.: 36 (Sales Header)
Field No.: 2 (Sell-to Customer No.)
Field Action: Unfold
Related Table: 18 (Customer)
Adding SystemId for Related Record
- Create a Field Action for the foreign key field
- Set Field Action to "Add SystemId for related record"
- Set Related Table to the related table
Example - Add Customer SystemId:
Table No.: 36 (Sales Header)
Field No.: 2 (Sell-to Customer No.)
Field Action: Add SystemId for related record
Related Table: 18 (Customer)
Converting Options to Captions
- Create a Field Action for the option field
- Set Field Action to "Use Option Caption"
Example - Show Status as Text:
Table No.: 36 (Sales Header)
Field No.: 120 (Status)
Field Action: Use Option Caption
Expanding Dimensions
- Create a Field Action for the Dimension Set ID field
- Set Field Action to "Unfold DimensionSet"
Example - Expand Dimensions on G/L Entry:
Table No.: 17 (G/L Entry)
Field No.: 480 (Dimension Set ID)
Field Action: Unfold DimensionSet
Handling Blob Fields
For text content in blob fields:
Field Action: Blob Field as Text
For binary content (images, documents):
Field Action: Blob as Base64
Using Global Filter
The Global Filter restricts which records are affected by certain Field Actions.
When Global Filter Applies
- Unfold action: Filters the related records
- Some transformation actions
Setting a Global Filter
- In the Global Filter field, enter a filter expression
- Use standard Business Central filter syntax
Example - Unfold Only Active Items:
Table No.: 37 (Sales Line)
Field No.: 6 (No.)
Field Action: Unfold
Related Table: 27 (Item)
Global Filter: Blocked=0
Filter Syntax
Standard Business Central filters apply:
Field=ValueField<>Value
| - `Field=Value1 | Value2` |
|---|
Field=From..To
Deleting Field Actions
Delete Single Action
- Select the Field Action row
- Press Delete or click Delete action
- Confirm deletion
Reset All Actions
To remove all Field Actions for a table:
- Select all rows (Ctrl+A if available)
- Delete selected rows
- All fields return to default behavior (included)
Common Configuration Patterns
Analytics-Ready Customer Data
Include customer with full details:
Table: 18 (Customer)
Actions:
- Credit Card No.: Exclude
- Picture: Exclude
- Dimension Set ID: Unfold DimensionSet
- Customer Posting Group: Use Option Caption
Sales Document with Related Data
Denormalized sales headers:
Table: 36 (Sales Header)
Actions:
- Sell-to Customer No.: Unfold (Customer)
- Sell-to Customer No.: Add SystemId for related record (Customer)
- Salesperson Code: Unfold (Salesperson/Purchaser)
- Dimension Set ID: Unfold DimensionSet
- Status: Use Option Caption
Searchable Item Catalog
Items ready for search:
Table: 27 (Item)
Actions:
- Picture: Blob as Base64
- Extended Text: Blob Field as Text
- Item Attributes: Unfold Item Attributes
- Gen. Prod. Posting Group: Use Option Caption
Minimal Financial Data
Lean G/L entries:
Table: 17 (G/L Entry)
Actions:
- All Fields: Add All then...
- Description 2: Exclude
- User ID: Exclude
- Source Code: Exclude
- Journal Batch Name: Exclude
- Dimension Set ID: Unfold DimensionSet
Testing Field Actions
After configuring Field Actions:
- Run Manual Replication
- Select the table mapping
- Click "Manual Run (Selected Tables)"
- Check Replication Log
- Verify successful completion
- Review any errors
- Verify in Destination
- Open your cloud destination
- Query replicated data
- Confirm fields appear as expected
- Adjust as Needed
- Add or modify Field Actions
- Re-run replication
- Verify changes
Troubleshooting
Field Not Appearing
- Check if Field Action is set to "Exclude"
- Verify Field Action record exists for the table
- Ensure replication completed successfully
Unfold Not Working
- Verify Related Table is set correctly
- Check Global Filter isn't too restrictive
- Confirm related record exists in Business Central
Unexpected Field Names
- Field names are automatically sanitized
- Spaces and special characters are replaced with underscores
- This is normal behavior
Blob Content Missing
- Ensure Field Action is Blob Field as Text or Blob as Base64
- Without an action, blobs are skipped by default
- Large blobs may be truncated
