License Overview

License Requirement

A valid license is required to use AFR in production environments; Business Central Online sandboxes are fully functional without one:

  • Without a license, indicators and the API pages are disabled; spreadsheets, report distribution and inter-company reporting keep working
  • License enables full functionality
  • License is tied to your tenant and environment

License Types

Subscription License

  • Monthly or annual payment
  • Includes updates during subscription
  • Every license key carries an expiration date; access to the licensed features ends when the subscription ends

Evaluation

  • There is no separate trial key: Business Central Online sandbox environments run the full product without a license
  • Move to a production environment with a subscription key when you are ready

License Scope

What License Covers

  • Use of AFR extension
  • All AFR features and functions
  • Updates during license period (subscription)

Environment Coverage

A license key is registered per environment (it covers every company in that environment):

  • Keys are tied to your Azure AD tenant and environment
  • Production environments need a key; Business Central Online sandboxes do not, on-premises sandboxes do

User Terms

Authorized Use

Users may:

  • Install and use AFR in licensed environments
  • Create indicators, reports, and configurations
  • Distribute reports through AFR features

Prohibited Use

Users may not:

  • Reverse engineer the extension
  • Redistribute license keys
  • Use in unlicensed environments

Obtaining a License

Purchase Process

  1. Contact Hougaard
  2. Select appropriate license type
  3. Receive license key
  4. Register in Business Central

License Compliance

Your Responsibilities

  • Register license properly
  • Use only in licensed environments
  • Maintain valid license for continued use

Verification

Publisher may verify:

  • License validity
  • Compliance with terms
  • Environment authorization

Renewal

Subscription Renewal

  • Renew before expiration
  • Contact publisher for renewal
  • Enter new license key if required

Avoiding Interruption

  • Monitor expiration dates
  • Set renewal reminders
  • Renew early to ensure continuity

Termination

Ending Your License

  • Cancel subscription according to terms
  • Indicators and the API pages become unavailable when the key expires
  • Data remains in BC (configuration data and spreadsheets)

After Termination

  • Extension can be uninstalled
  • Your BC data is unaffected
  • Configuration data is kept unless you choose to delete extension data
